Lake County Federation of Teachers (LCFT) Local 504 Delegates

Please be advised the Lake County Federation of Teachers Local 504 hereby announces 2026 AFT Convention Delegate elections. The AFT Convention will be held in Washington DC July 16, 2025, to July 19, 2026. The Local 504 Governing Board approved full funding for thirteen (13) delegates.

Elections Timeline

Friday, November 7, 2025: Nominations open

Monday, January 5, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. CST: Nominations close

Tuesday, January 6, 2026 – Friday, January 9, 2026: Candidates to be vetted and announced

Monday, January 12, 2026: If election required, postcards printed and prepped for mailing

Monday, February 9, 2026 – Friday, February 13, 2026 at noon CST: EZVote Election and paper balloting at the Union Hall

Friday, February 13, 2026 at 3:00 p.m.: Ballot counting begins

Monday, February 16, 2026: Election results emailed and US mailed to members

Election Rules

The 2026 AFT Convention Delegate Election will be done by EZVote and paper balloting at the Union Hall.

All members in good standing per Article III Section 5, will receive an EZVote ballot at their email address on file on Monday, February 9, 2026. Those who prefer to vote in-person may come into the Union Hall from Monday, February 9, 2026 – Friday, February 13, 2026 at noon CST.

All ballots received by noon CST on Friday, February 13, 2026, will be considered cast on time.

Nominations

Constitution and Bylaws Article VI Section 4, sets out the requirements to be eligible to run for AFT Convention Delegate. Only members may nominate an individual, whether yourself or someone else, for a convention delegate position.

Nomination forms are due to the Election Committee no later than 5:00 p.m. CST Monday, January 5, 2026. You may email the Election Committee at: local504elections@gmail.com. You will receive confirmation that your nomination form was received.

There will be no provision for write-in convention delegates on the ballot.
