WPSS President Linda Unda addressed the Waukegan District #60 Board of Education this week, calling on the district to accelerate contract negotiations as WPSS educators have now been working seven months without a contract.
President Unda’s remarks were met with visible support, as a strong turnout of WPSS members filled the board meeting audience to stand in solidarity and underscore the urgency of reaching a fair agreement.
Earlier that day, members gathered at the Union Hall for a general membership bargaining update meeting, where leadership provided important updates on the status of negotiations. During the meeting, members received “Working Without a Contract” buttons to wear at work, along with “I Deserve a Fair Contract” signs to display in their car windows while on duty.
The show of unity throughout the day sent a clear message: WPSS members are engaged, informed, and united in their demand for a fair, timely contract.
WPSS remains committed to advocating for its members and will continue to push District #60 to negotiate in good faith and reach an agreement that respects the work educators do every day for students and the community.
