At a recent Board meeting, Woodland Federation of Teachers & Staff (WFTS) members sent a powerful message to Woodland administration and the Board of Education.

Nearly 100 union members packed the board meeting, approximately 15 members spoke at the meeting, while an overflowing crowd filled the board room and spilled into the hallway.

Members are standing up against the district's rushed rollout of the Understanding by Design (UbD) framework, which educators say has been implemented without adequate training, preparation, or essential curriculum resources.

After attempts to resolve concerns collaboratively were ignored, WFTS has filed a grievance, demanded impact bargaining, and is preparing additional actions if necessary.

As Woodland enters the final year of its contract, the meeting turnout was a powerful reminder of what solidarity looks like.
