POSTING:       MEMBERSHIP AND OFFICE SUPPORT STAFF

I hereby post a full-time vacancy for a Membership and Support Staff position.  The start date is on or about the week of July 8, 2024.  Job qualifications and essential duties and responsibilities for this position are listed below. Those interested in the above-listed position should understand that:

(1) application is made by sending a cover letter and current resume to the attention of Brian Smith by e-mail to lcft504treasurer@gmail.com no later than Friday, May 24, 2024;

(2) the LCFT does not pay the cost of any expense incurred in the interview process, or any expense incurred in relocation when employment requires a change in residency;

(3) interviewees will be selected from the application letters with current resumes received by the deadline date;

(4) interviews will be conducted in the Gurnee Office;

(5) employment will begin as per a mutual agreement between the successful applicant and the LCFT;

(6) salary and benefits will be in accordance with the standards set forth in the IFT-IOU Support Staff Agreement but this position is not part of the IFT support staff bargaining unit;

LAKE COUNTY FEDERATION OF TEACHERS, LOCAL 504

Position: Office Support Staff – Full Time

Qualifications:

  1. Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required along with a professional and friendly demeanor when interacting with colleagues, members and guests.

  2. Ability to plan, organize, schedule and manage workflow in a timely and effective manner.

  3. Ability to work in MS Windows, regularly engaging with email and calendar systems, remote meetings software, web-based applications, and the ability to quickly learn and master our proprietary data management system.

  4. Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. Exhibits a high level of skill, and the ability to learn new ways to optimize data management using Excel. Effective and efficient word processing skills.

  5. Demonstrated ability to multitask effectively and prioritize strategically. 

  6. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and follow oral and written instructions.

  7. Ability to care for minute details to ensure reliable and accurate results with a strong focus on verification of information for accuracy.

  8. Ability to interact collaboratively with union leadership, membership, field representatives, outside agencies and central office staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Support the clerical needs of the Executive Committee, the four Field Service Directors, and, in collaboration with the Office Manager and Membership Coordinator, discover areas in which to support the needs of the loca/office. 

  2. Work with diverse groups of individuals and demonstrate a positive, welcoming and friendly attitude. Present a positive image and superior customer service.

  3. Handle multiple tasks and projects, with the ability to prioritize. Work independently and effectively with minimal supervision.

  4. Demonstrate superior computer skills and software knowledge, including high level knowledge of and the ability to use word processing, database and spreadsheet programs.

  5. Perform a wide variety of secretarial, clerical and record keeping functions from basic (answer phone and route messages) to complex (data matching and analysis).

  6. Assist in the maintenance of detailed files and the ability to work with School District Personnel and Council Leadership in maintaining accurate membership lists.

  7. Maintain all files and records in a legible, accurate and organized manner.

  8. Perform light to medium lifting of chairs, tables, stocking drinks and set-up for use of facilities.

  9. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Organizational Relationship: Under the employment of the LCFT Governing Board

Reports to the Local President or Designee.

Salary and benefits will be in accordance with the standards set forth in the IFT-IOU Support Staff Agreement, but this position is not part of the IFT support staff bargaining unit.
